As wealth and technological development increase in countries like the US and Canada, many people are turning away from believing in God, the supernatural, etc and even becoming, (gasp!), atheists.
if I were a really jealous deity in control of all reality i would have mixed feelings about allowing science or technology to progress and would field it to my holy government where they might help me decide to just make everyone live the amish instead. but definitely the incredible progress of science and technology, in part spurred by wealth and leading to many atheists becoming successful figures in society would not be something i’d be all gung-ho about letting happen on my solar system real estate.
it raises the question if there is God or supernatural entities worthy of belief why would such seemingly backwards things happen? once again i type this on a computer running software made by Microsoft of which founder and current chair is Bill Gates, a known agnostic or atheist.
