So now we have Iran which refuses to curtail it’s uranium enrichment activities because it claims to need to pursue nuclear energy for it’s people. Israel is nervous and threatening to attack Iran. Iran, in turn is threatening to attack Israel. Russia and China are blocking U.N. sanctions against Iran. The U.S. is pursuing a coalition of countries that would impose economic sanctions against Iran without U.N. approval. What a mess. Two word solution: Solar energy. Iran is a dessert. What better place to research, develop and implement solar energy technologies? Such a project would take away any pretense of Iran’s need for nuclear power. Of course there would be major global economic adjustments to make in a transition from oil and nuclear power to solar, but wouldn’t those be less dangerous than setting the stage for a nuclear World War lll?
Rufus, that’s my point. If we (the U.S., the U.N., whoever) can impose economic sactions on Iran, why couldn’t we impose solar energy on Iran and remove their argument for nuclear?
